Transport

The Transport module manages the logistics and costs of moving equipment from one place to another, usually from your premises to a customer site and back again. Where transport costs are billable, this module allows for the creation of invoices, with prices coming from the Inventory module. In addition to working closely with the Equipment Manager and the Rental module, the Transport module uses the Inventory module and SOP. The Inventory and SOP modules must be installed. Transport requests can be generated directly from an equipment rental agreement.

The major steps recorded by the Transport module are:

  • A transport request is recorded. This may be entered directly or as a part of a rental agreement. Equipment being transported must be recorded in the Equipment Manager, with a transport pricing item on the Transport tab.
  • The transport request is scheduled to a truck and may be carried out using internal resources or a contractor.
  • The dispatch and delivery are recorded.
  • If billable, the transport amount is invoiced directly through the SOP module, or in the case of a rental agreement, the amount is included as an extra item on the next invoice against the rental agreement. Equipment transport revenue is invoiced as a service item.
