Service Settings

Service Call/Booking

The Service Call/Bookings tab lets you define several default values and basic settings related to service calls and appointments.

  1. In the General section, enter the following:

    • Default Warehouse: Specify the default warehouse for service call products when a warehouse is required and isn't specified on the service call product. The system doesn't automatically populate the warehouse for all service call products. It only uses this default if a warehouse is required and left blank.

    • Travel Miles Product: Select the product that the system uses for travel miles charges for a service call. The pricing is based on the Travel Miles Charge settings configured in the service account. The Travel Miles Product is set up in Business Central as a non-inventory item. Travel miles can be created automatically in MobileTech and can be manually entered on a service call in WennSoft Service.
      Note: If you don’t charge labor for travel time on a service call invoice, you can leave the Travel Hours Product field blank. A travel time entry is still created and can be approved from the Time Entry window in WennSoft Service, but the labor entry is not created.

    • Travel Hours Product: This field is required if the Travel Miles Product is selected above. Select the product that the system uses for travel hours charges for a service call. The pricing is based on the Travel Hours Charge settings configured in the service account. The Travel Hours Product is set up in Business Central as a non-inventory item. Travel hours can be created automatically in MobileTech and can be manually entered on a service call in WennSoft Service.

  2. In the Resource Pay Type section, enter the following:

    • Work Pay Type: Choose the resource pay type for work performed during regular work hours.

    • Business Closure Pay Type: Choose the pay type for days marked as Business Closures.

    • Travel Pay Type: Choose the pay type for time that a resource is traveling to a service location.
      Note: If you don’t charge labor for travel time on a service call invoice, you can leave the Travel Hours Product field and/or the Travel Pay Type field blank. A travel time entry is still created and can be approved from the Time Entry window in WennSoft Service, but the labor entry is not created.

    • Overtime Pay Type: Choose the pay type for time outside of the scheduled work hours.

    • Break Pay Type: Choose the pay type for time that the resource is taking a break while performing service work.
      Note: If you don’t charge labor for break time on a service call invoice, you can leave the Break Pay Type field blank. A break time entry is still created and can be approved from the Time Entry window in WennSoft Service, but the labor entry is not created.

  3. The Mobile section is not currently used with WennSoft Service.

  4. Select Save.

Accounting Dimensions

After you have created the dimensions and the values for each dimension in Business Central, you will need to map the default dimensions/values to be used in WennSoft Service. For more information, see Dimensions.

Intelligence

Currently not used with WennSoft Service.

Time Entry

Time entries help track the time that technicians spend on various stages of a service call. For more information, go to Time Entries.

  1. Select the following Time Entry settings:

    • Time Entry Generation Strategy: This allows the system to automatically create time entries using appointment timestamps.
      IMPORTANT: For MobileTech users, this setting must be set to Auto-Generate from Booking Timestamps. If this is set to Manual, technicians won’t see any of their pending time entries in MobileTech. For more information about time entries in MobileTech for Service, see Time Entries.

    • Time Cost Actuals Source: This setting must be set to Booking Journals on Post of Work Order.

  2. Select Save.

Other

  1. Select the following Other settings:

    • Administrative Contact: Select the administrative contact.

    • Use Enhanced Background Processing (Preview): Currently not in use with WennSoft Service.

    • Enable Address Suggestions: Enable this setting to get suggestions when entering addresses in various forms.

    • Product cost order: Choose the order for product cost.

    • Service Call Subgrid Records Open as Popups: Specify if service call subgrid records open as a pop-up window on the service call form. Subentities of the service call entity: service call product, service call service, service call service task, service call incident, bookable resource booking, and time entry.

  2. Select Save.
