Create Dimensions in Business Central

Creating Dimensions

1. In Business Central, search for and select Dimensions in Administration.

2. Select New.

3. Enter the following:

   • Code: Name of the dimension. After tabbing to the next field, this name defaults into the following fields.

     • Name: The full name of the dimension.

     • Code Caption: Adds the word Code after the code.

     • Filter Caption: Adds the word Filter after the code.

   • Description: Enter a description of the dimension.

Adding Dimension Values

Dimension values further define the dimension.

1. In Business Central, search for and select Dimensions in Administration.

2. Focus in one of the dimension rows.

3. Select Dimension from the ribbon and then select Dimension Values.

4. Select New and enter the following:

   • Code: Specifies the code name for the dimension value. After tabbing to the next field, this name defaults to the Name field.

   • Name: Specifies a descriptive name for the dimension value. This defaults from the Code but can be edited.

   • Dimension Value Type: Specifies the purpose of the dimension value. Defaults to Standard.
