Products and Services
The Products and services tab contains information about the products and services that are associated with the service call. Products are items that a technician uses to complete the service call. Services refer to work that a technician completes and bills the customer for.
You can update the status and change the quantity of an item in line or make more extensive updates in the side pane. To add products or services to the service call, select + Add product or + Add service.
A summary above the list shows the total cost of the products and services used during the service call.
Your ability to view cost fields and tabs depends on the security role assigned to your user ID. To view invoices and purchase orders (from the document hyperlink) in Business Central, you must have access to the platform.
Products
For products, you can view the name, description, whether it's an inventory or non-inventory product, estimated and used quantities, estimated and total price, and whether the product was used or not. Only products with a Line Status of Used are included on the invoice.
Inventory is affected when products are added to service calls and used. For example, a product is added as estimated and allocated (that is, the Line Status field is set to Estimated, and the Allocated field is set to Yes). In this case, a portion of the inventory is reserved from the specified warehouse, but it isn't deducted.
If a service call product is used during a service call (the Line Status field is set to Used), the inventory at the related warehouse is deducted by the quantity of the service call product. Typically, the warehouse listed on a service call product is a technician's truck.
Services
For services, you can view the name, estimate duration, duration, duration to bill, unit amount, total cost, total price, status, service invoice, and created date.
Service product lines are added automatically when a time entry is approved. Time entries can be viewed from the service call by selecting Related > Time Entries.
IMPORTANT:
Do not edit the labor entry on the Service tab. The service lines are a “copy” of the approved time entry and are not linked. These edits will not update the time entry that is sent to payroll.
If you are adding a service line for an equipment rental used on a call, the dimension will automatically default as Labor, and can be changed at the time of entry.
