Enter a Time Entry on an Appointment

Use the Time Entry tab on the appointment to enter billable labor or travel time entries before the appointment is marked as completed.

  • Time entries for appointments are automatically created, but you can manually enter additional entries if needed.

    • If you are using the Begin Travel/End Travel feature, the travel entries are automatically created when you select “End Travel”. See Travel Time In and Out.

    • After selecting End Travel, the appointment status is automatically set to In Progress. When you complete the appointment, the labor time entry is created.

  • You can view and edit time entries added from all appointments from the Time Entries window accessed from the home screen, if the time entries have not been submitted. See Time Entries.

  • Time entries for hourly, overtime, or travel cannot overlap. You can, however, overlap a Break time entry with another time entry.

Entering a Time Entry

To enter a time entry transaction:

  1. Select Appointments and then select the appointment.

  2. Select More.

  3. From the Time Entry tab for the appointment, select the New icon.

  4. Enter information in these fields, as needed.

    • Resource: Your name auto-populates in this read-only field.

    • Appointment: The appointment ID auto-populates in this read-only field.

    • Start (required): The system date and time are displayed. You can change the start date and time.

    • End: The system date and time are displayed. You can change the end date and time. The end time will update automatically if you enter a value in the Duration field.

    • Duration (required): Enter the duration for the time entry.

    • Type (required): Select the type of time entry.

    • Pay Type (required): Select the pay type for the time entry. The pay type defaults to the resource settings in WennSoft Service.

    • Status: Displays the status of the time entry. When creating the time entry, the status is Draft. After you submit the time entry, the status displays as Submitted.

    • Description: Enter an optional description of the travel.

    • External Comments: Enter an optional external comment.

  5. Select Save to save a draft of the time entry. Time entries saved as a draft entry can be edited.
    If you are ready to submit the time entry, select the Submit Entry icon. Time entries can also be submitted from the Time Entries window accessed from the home screen. Submitted time entries cannot be edited.
