Create or Edit an Equipment Record
You can use OCR scanning to extract text from images (such as business cards or labels) and automatically populate certain fields. For more information, see OCR To Capture Text Data.
Create an Equipment Record
Open the equipment list:
For a service call, select Appointments. Select an appointment and select More.
For the customer, select Customers. Select the customer.
Select the Equipment tab.
Select the New icon.
Enter information in these fields:
Name (required): Enter the equipment name. This field has an OCR icon.
Type: Select the equipment type.
Manufacturer: Select the manufacturer of the equipment.
Model: Enter the model number. This field has an OCR icon.
Serial Number: Enter the unique serial number for the equipment. This field has an OCR icon.
Installation Date: Select the date when the equipment was installed.
Sizing: Enter the sizing information.
Parent Equipment: Select the parent equipment the new equipment belongs to, if applicable.
Product: Select the product, if applicable.
Functional Location: Select the functional location for the item. Functional locations for the customer location are created in WennSoft Service.
Account: The default customer location ID.
Select the Save icon.
In the pop-up window, select Yes to assign the equipment record to the service call. If you select No, the equipment is created but will not be assigned. See Assign Equipment to a Service Call.
Create a Child Equipment Record
Open the equipment list:
For a service call, select Appointments. Select an appointment and select More.
For the customer, select Customers. Select the customer.
Select the Equipment tab.
Select the Child Equipment tab.
Select the New icon.
Enter information in these fields:
Name (required): Enter the equipment name. This field has an OCR icon.
Type: Select the equipment type.
Manufacturer: Select the manufacturer of the equipment.
Model: Enter the model number. This field has an OCR icon.
Serial Number: Enter the unique serial number for the equipment. This field has an OCR icon.
Installation Date: Select the date when the equipment was installed.
Year Built: Select the year the equipment was built.
Sizing: Enter the sizing information.
Parent Equipment: The parent equipment auto-populates from the equipment record.
Product: Select the product, if applicable.
Functional Location: Select the functional location for the item. Functional locations for the customer location are created in WennSoft Service.
Account: The default customer location ID.
Select the Save icon.

Edit an Equipment Record
Depending on the setup, you can change these equipment details:
