Job Cost Settings

Use Job Cost Settings to review fixed revenue-recognition behavior and, when Business Central Integration is enabled, maintain Job Cost posting and journal defaults.

  1. Go to Settings > Job Cost > Job Cost Settings.

  1. Review revenue recognition behavior. Revenue Recognition Method displays Percentage of Completion with Cost to Cost progress measurement. Revenue Recognition Posting Mode displays Full TTD (Total to Date) Reversing. Both values are read-only.

  1. Configure Business Central Posting Defaults. When Business Central Integration is enabled, choose the dimension and inventory posting group used by Job Cost.

    • Dimension: Select the active Job Cost dimension used for Job Dimension Values and ERP tagging. Although the field is not required by the form, Job saves and new ERP posts are blocked when the required dimension setup is missing, inactive, mismatched, or has a blank code. The field becomes read-only after a Job using it has Job Costs or Job Billing documents.

    • Gen. Bus. Posting Group: Select an active General Business Posting Group for inventory Job Cost posting. Inventory posting is blocked when this mapping is not configured.

  2. Configure Journal Defaults. Enter the optional Business Central template and batch names used by Revenue Recognition and Close Jobs.

    • Revenue Recognition Journal Template: Enter the Business Central journal template used for revenue-recognition posting.

    • Revenue Recognition Journal Batch: Enter the Business Central journal batch used for revenue-recognition posting.

    • Close Job Template Override: Enter a different journal template for Close Jobs. Leave blank to inherit the Revenue Recognition Journal Template.

    • Close Job Batch Override: Enter a different journal batch for Close Jobs. Leave blank to inherit the Revenue Recognition Journal Batch.

Shared Revenue Recognition account setup must exist before journal defaults can be saved. When Business Central Integration is disabled, the Business Central section and Save Changes action are hidden, but previously saved values are not cleared.

  1. Review dimension remediation. If a warning reports active Draft or Open Jobs with an invalid Dimension Value, select View Jobs and correct the identified jobs. The warning does not prevent this settings page from being saved.

  1. Select Save Changes. The page saves only the posting or journal settings that changed.
