Dynamic Explorer

Dynamic Explorer provides a look at real-time data from devices on the BAS network and updates the values in from customizable views every 5 seconds. Historic or real-time trends of any object in the database can be charted for comparison, even across devices from different profiles. Utilizing the Dynamic Explorer, similar objects from devices of the same profile or objects with the same name across the entire database can be compared and sorted in various simple windows. Connect also can overwrite values back to the database, even sending multiple commands to multiple devices simultaneously.

The following demonstrates the fully customizable ways to utilize the feature.

Adding an Object to a Chart

  1. Choose Dynamic Explorer icon.
  2. On the left pane, expand the Agents tree on the left pane and choose the device you would like to view. This view gives you real-time values of all objects brought in from the device in Configuration Explorer.

  3. On the right pane, right-click the object and choose Add To Chart. This adds a real-time trend of the object, updating every 5 seconds.

  4. In the Chart section that is displayed at the bottom, choose the Edit Date Range button in the bottom right corner to open the Chart Range window. This gives the user the option to view historical data, as well as the ability to choose the literal (specific start and end dates) or relative date range (current, etc. to x number of days).

  5. In the Chart Range window, choose Historical Data and then choose Edit Date Range. You can choose to enter a Literal Date Range, or you can choose a Relative Date Range

  6. Choose OK.

Adding an Object to a Watch

  1. Choose Dynamic Explorer icon.
  2. On the left pane, expand the Agents tree and choose the device you would like to view.
  3. On the right pane, right-click the object and choose Add To Watch. This adds the current real-time value to a table updating every 5 seconds.

Any number of objects can be added to this table, regardless of the Agent, Profile, or Device.
  4. The Chart Settings button at the top of the screen will allow the user to modify the chart title, enable markers, enable line shadows, change the axis that each object will be displayed, and give label options including showing device and object names.

  5. Right-click another object and choose View Like Objects. This displays all objects within the database that have the exact same name, even if the device does not belong to the same profile or agent. For example, a VAV profile at Building_A might have an object called Space Temperature (Names of objects can be renamed to a conventional naming standard if desired. A constant volume rooftop unit at Building_B might also have an object called Space Temperature. By choosing View Like Objects, values would populate in the window.
