Energy Monitors

Energy Monitors are configured by the user to display the energy usage of an object where an actual energy meter does not exist. There are two types of monitors that can be created.

Creating a Status Value Monitor

  1. Choose the Configuration Explorer icon and then choose Energy.
  2. Choose New Energy Monitor.
  3. In the Energy Monitor Editor, in the General Settings tab, enter the Name and Description

  4. Choose the device Profile that contains the objects to be monitored.
  5. Choose the Monitored Objects tab and choose Add

  6. Enter the Name.
  7. Choose Status Value (On/Off, True/False, etc.)

  8. Choose Next.
  9. Choose Next.
  10. Enter the criteria that defines when the object is consuming power. 

  11. Choose OK.
  12. Enter the Value and choose the Energy Consumption Type that occurs when the energy monitor object is active. 

  13. Choose Next.
  14. Choose Finish.
  15. Choose the Devices tab and mark the checkboxes next to the devices to apply this energy monitor. 

  16. Choose OK.

Creating an Energy Value Monitor

  1. Choose the Configuration Explorer icon and then choose Energy.
  2. Choose New Energy Monitor.
  3. In the Energy Monitor Editor, in the General Settings tab, enter the Name and Description

  4. Choose the device Profile that contains the objects to be monitored.
  5. Choose the Monitored Objects tab and choose Add

  6. Enter the Name.
  7. Choose Energy Value (Watts, Amps, kWh, etc.)

  8. Choose Next.
  9. Choose the energy values. 

  10. Choose Next.
  11. Choose Finish.
  12. Choose the Devices tab and mark the checkboxes next to the devices to apply this energy monitor. 

  13. Choose OK.

Viewing Energy Monitor Statistics

  1. Choose the Configuration Explorer icon and then choose Energy.
  2. Choose Properties or right-click the monitor and then choose Properties.
  3. Choose the Statistics tab. If the monitored object history contains values from the past days, then those historic occurrences will be applied in the energy monitor calculations. 

  4. Choose OK.

Viewing the Energy Monitor Data

  1. Choose the Energy Monitor icon.

  2. The following information displays. 

    1. Date/Time Range - Defaults to 28 days.
    2. Previous Period - Defaults to 7 days.
    3. Energy Range - Displays the Date/Time Range plus the Previous Period.

      Energy Usage
    4. Cost - Determined by the cost per kWh value on the Location and Energy tab of the Agent Configuration .
    5. Energy (kWh) - This value is the sum of Date/Time Range values.
    6. Previous (kWh) - This value is the sum of the previous Date/Time Range values. (Going back Date/Time Range + Previous Period.)
    7. Change (kWh) - Displays the change. The cell background displays as green when less and red when more.

      Energy Usage by Time
    8. Displays a comparison table of the Date/Time period usage to the Previous Period usage. Choose a row to view a focus down to hourly usage.

    9. The comparison chart displays the Date/Time Period Usage to the Previous Period Usage.

      Usage Chart
    10. The usage chart displays the usage over the Date/Time range.
    11. Use the handles on the left and right sides to adjust the time period focus of the chart.
