Linking an Equipment Record to a Serialized Inventory Item

When you have an equipment record in Equipment Management and the equivalent item in inventory with a serial number, you can link the serialized inventory item with the equipment ID using the Modify Equipment Inventory utility.

You may need the utility if you purchased a piece of equipment that was a non-inventory item or if you have an existing equipment record that you would like to link to an inventory serialized item.

1. Choose Microsoft Dynamics GP > Tools > Setup > Equipment > Equipment > Inventory Equipment.
2. Choose the Equipment ID. The list shows equipment records for which there is no link to an inventory serialized item. You can view all equipment records by choosing All Equipment from the drop-down list.
3. Choose the Serial Number using the lookup. The list shows serial numbers for inventory items linked to the model of the equipment ID selected. The Receipt Number, PO Number, and SOP Number will appear.
4. Choose Commit.

You can unassign a serial number to an inventory item by choosing the equipment record, choosing the eraser button, and choosing Commit.
